AI, Google & SEO: What’s changing in 2025? 👀
Glenn Allsopp’s SEO 2025 Report — Quick Summary Inside.
Hello, my friend!
How have you been lately? 😊
Even though I’ve been on a workation in Europe (yes, working and vacationing 🌍✈️), I’ve still been keeping busy!
Here’s what I’ve been up to:
Creating high-quality content for beehiiv
Teaming up with the creators of a new keyword tool called Keywordly
Creating SEO-friendly content for my own site
Partnering with developers to fix some annoying tech issues on my website (not the fun part 😅)
Just joined two new affiliate programs — Alli AI and Writesonic

I've been keeping up with the latest SEO buzz 🧠 because wow... there's a lot happening right now.
Glenn Allsopp, a super smart SEO guy and the founder of detailed.com, just dropped a report called “The State of SEO in 2025.”
He’s been in the SEO game for years, and this time he dove deep into how things are shifting, especially with all the AI tools taking over and Google possibly not being the only big player anymore. 👀
The report breaks things down into 34 key insights about where SEO is headed.
As an SEO specialist and a content writer, I went through it all and pulled out the stuff you really need to know. ✅
Here’s a quick summary to save you time. ⏳
And if you're curious to read the full thing, you can check it out here.
🔍 Big brands still rule Google: As of May 2025, 80% of the top-ranking pages come from giant corporations or public companies. BUT… only 18% of those actually grew over the last year. 🤯

🔎 Wikipedia’s still doing just fine: Even though a lot’s changing in the search world, Wikipedia is holding steady. It still gets a solid stream of traffic. Not bad for a site that relies so much on Google!
💼 Fewer SEO job openings lately: There seem to be fewer SEO roles out there compared to last year. Something to keep an eye on. 👀
But I don’t think it means SEO is dying. It’s more about how fast the industry is shifting. New changes (like AI Overviews) are shaking things up, and this means new types of roles and skills might be needed soon.
🌐 Search still brings in the most traffic: Even with all the AI buzz, old-school search is still the #1 way most websites get visitors. Yep, people are still Googling away.
📈 Google’s still going strong: AI search tools are getting more popular, but when people need info, most still head to Google. Its user base is still growing. 📊
🤖 AI can give answers without clicks: AI tools are getting better at giving quick answers, sometimes you don’t even have to visit a website to get what you need.
But honestly, this isn’t brand new. Remember featured snippets? They’ve been stealing clicks for years, too. 😅
🛠️ SEO tools are booming: More SEOs are using tools than ever, and not just the old ones. There’s a wave of AI + SEO tools popping up, and they’re getting a lot of attention.
Since January 2025, I’ve tested quite a few: Search Atlas, Writesonic, Keywordly, Alli AI, ContentShake AI… and the list goes on! 😄
Curious to try some AI SEO tools yourself?
🔍 Google still wants us to keep searching: Even with all the new AI features, Google makes money when we search. That means they need people to keep coming back and typing in those queries.
AI Overviews can mean fewer clicks: If Google gives you the full answer right away (thanks, AI), you probably won’t click on any other websites. That’s great for users... not so great for site owners.
I talked more about this in my last newsletter, where I shared a few takeaways from a recent Semrush study. 📊
🥳 Smaller sites are winning: According to Glenn’s study results, over half (54.7%) of 600+ startup websites tracked gained more search traffic this past year.
That’s a big deal! It means smaller sites finally have a real shot at ranking high on Google—something that used to be nearly impossible because big-name sites always dominated the top spots.
🔍 Google > ChatGPT (for now): Despite all the hype, Google still drives about 3x more traffic to websites than ChatGPT does. So yep—SEO is still very much alive!
My thoughts on the future of SEO? Still the same. 👇
SEO is still a great way to grow your website and get traffic from Google. No doubt about it. But… I wouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket. 🧺
It’s smart to build other traffic channels, too!
I still work on growing my own website and helping clients get steady traffic from Google. That’s always the goal. 🎯
At the same time, I’m also exploring other ways to bring in visitors, ones that don’t rely on SEO alone, like Reddit.🚦
Now, let me show you how things are going with my website lately. 📈
What’s going on with my website? 👀
Honestly, I think right now is one of the best times to grow a niche, expert-driven website.
People are tired of generic content. They want real advice from people who’ve actually done the work. That’s why smaller, expert-led sites with strong personal brands are getting more love lately.
My own site is living proof. 🙌
I’ve barely added 10 new pages in the last few months. Still, I got a few awesome backlinks (yep, from sites like Ahrefs and Whatagraph 😎).
Today, my website gets almost 100k impressions and 200+ clicks every single day — all from just around 100 indexed pages.
That’s what happens when you follow an SEO strategy that actually works, even when the internet feels like chaos. 🔥
