Why your website isn't getting more traffic 📉

Tips from an SEO expert and website owner.

Hi there,

How have you been doing lately? 😇

I have a few more weeks to spend with my family and friends in Europe before coming back to 🇨🇦.

Even though I have plenty of client projects to work on, I also communicate with potential clients and (slowly) grow my website with SEO.

If you have a new or poor-performing website, this newsletter is for you!

Ensure you cover all these aspects on your website since fixing mistakes later will cost you time and money.

Ensure your website is in the Google index

When you search for something on Google, it doesn't actually search the entire internet every time.

Instead, it checks its index to see which web pages are most relevant to your search query. This way, Google can give you results much faster.

It doesn’t matter how many pages you publish on the web if none is indexed.

So, if your website doesn’t get the desired traffic, perhaps it’s not even ranking on Google.

Here’s what you should do to get your website indexed and ranking. 👇

  1. Set up a Google Search Console account.

  2. Monitor indexing of every published page.

  3. Manually submit a page for indexing if it’s not indexed automatically.

Start with low-competition keywords

Why focus on low-competition keywords? 🤨

If your website is new or has low domain authority, it can’t compete with bigger websites.

So, don’t waste your time writing about popular topics. There’s a high chance your website won’t rank for them at all.

Instead, you can use the following metrics to define low-competition keywords:

  • Global volume (GV): 100+

  • Search volume in your target country (SV): 100+

  • Traffic potential (TP): 100+

  • Keyword difficult (KD): less than 30 out of 100 (medium competition)

Use these AI prompts to speed up your growth

If your website is a one-man show, you probably write the content, design the visuals, and fix technical errors.

An entire marketing team usually works on all these tasks. However, you cover all these tasks alone.

I realized it’s impossible to be efficient if you want to do all the tasks simultaneously.

That’s why I started experimenting with prompts to speed up my research and writing process.

In particular, the following prompts save me a lot of time when writing:

  1. “What is [topic]?” to write definitions

  2. “Write me a title of up to 60 characters with the words [topic]”

  3. “List FAQ for the web page about [topic]”

  4. “Generate schema markup for the following question and answer:[your content]”

  5. “Give me data about [topic] with sources”

  6. “Finish this sentence [sentence]”

  7. “Elaborate on this topic in 1 sentence [topic]”

These are just a few prompts that can help you manage your website faster.
