What to do if your website's traffic drops 📉

Is your website affected after the Google August 2024 Core update? Here's what you can do.

Hello there,

That’s Victoria from the Website Growth Mastery, showing up in your email box. 😉

How have you been doing lately?

I’ve recently shared that my website has seen a surge in views and impressions following the latest Google algorithm update.

This positive outcome is not accidental.

I put a lot of effort into writing and optimizing this blog post, and my SEO strategy is straightforward.

However, many website owners on LinkedIn have reported a decline in organic traffic and rankings after the August core update. If you're one of them (hopefully not), I have a strategy that can help revive your struggling pages.

It’s called content revamp!

The logic is simple:

  1. Define web pages with obsolete content that lost their rankings

  2. Prioritise web pages by business potential

  3. Analyze the search intent for your target keyword

  4. Conduct keyword research to discover keywords your page does not rank for yet

  5. Rewrite content

  6. Republish a page

If you do all these steps, you’ll see rapid impressions and clicks increase in a few days after republishing your old content.

If interested, I explain the entire process of SEO content writing in my SEO ebook.

You might wonder: What percentage of your content needs to be rewritten?

Will 100%, 50%, or less than 50% be okay?

Here is what happened to my Beehiiv review after updating 70% of the content.👇

I’ve also found a great study proving that Google considers your web page unique and worth indexing if at least 50% of your content is unique.

Here is a short excerpt from the study worth sharing:

It seems there needs to be at least a 50/50 ratio for a page to be determined unique. Regardless of how many words are used (i.e. 100 words unique and 100 words duplicate are considered unique content whereas 400 words unique and 800 duplicate — duplicate) the ratio appears to be the deciding factor.
