October 2024: Monthly Recap 📈

October has passed in the blink of an eye.

I had a one-week escape to Ottawa and Montreal to celebrate my birthday.

Even though most of my energy this year has gone into my client work, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my website managed to bring in a solid 20.3% of my income from January to October 2024. 

And here’s the kicker: October turned out to be my highest-earning month of the year!

But the key takeaway?

Even a modest website pulling in 6k-8k visits per month can generate a four-figure income—if you’ve got the SEO game down.

In early October 2024, many websites, including mine, experienced a steep drop in organic traffic and impressions.

Here's what happened:

I was quite surprised since the last Core Update from Google happened in August 2024, and there were no other official announcements.

However, many website owners shared they experienced a drop in rankings and traffic in early October.

I’ve got to be honest: this particular setback hit me hard. 🫠 

Just when I was seriously considering an offer from a company to buy my website, I had to pause everything.

I decided to postpone the deal because my website needs a revamp before I can even think about selling it again.

Here’s the game plan I’m using—one that’s helped lift the performance of my clients' low-ranking sites time and time again:

1. Run a content audit to discover the pages that need work.

2. Prioritize which pages to focus on based on their business value.

3. Refresh at least half the content, keeping user intent, competition, and SEO best practices in mind.

4. Keep a close eye on the performance metrics to measure the impact.

Speaking of my website, I’ve already started my own content audit to revamp key money-making pages.

One of my first projects?

Giving a makeover to my beehiiv review page, which has already brought in $4,541.18 in earnings—and I’m aiming to take that number even higher!
