83 pages, 6k+ traffic: what I’d change to my site

Insights from an SEO expert.

Hello there,

I can’t believe it’s been three years since I created my website as a digital playground for my SEO experiments.

Even though I’ve always been passionate about growing my own website, I’ve never had enough time to make it grow faster. I can still recall those late nights, writing content at 10 PM, sometimes until midnight.

That’s the reality of being a committed solopreneur — you leave a full-time job hoping for more freedom, only to end up working 50–60 hours a week.

Now, three years later, with 99% of the content written by me (the small fraction contributed by hired writers didn’t rank well), I can say it was worth it.

And guess what?

It’s paying off! 🚀 📈

Just recently, I analyzed my main income sources and found that my website earned me $7,608.43 from January to November 2024. 🫣

I was honestly shocked because this site has always been more of a side project, and I haven’t even put much work into it.

In fact, I didn’t publish any new content this month.

This success is purely thanks to my SEO-driven approach to growing the site.

But if I could go back and give my younger self some advice to grow my website faster, here’s what I’d say.

Publishing ≠ Ranking

If I could go back, I’d keep a close eye on the indexing status of every newly published page to ensure they were indexed by Google and ranking properly.

Nowadays, I use Indexly to help my website pages get indexed in hours instead of weeks.

For example, you can use the “Instant Indexing” feature of Indexly to automatically submit your new or pending URLs to get indexed.

Money-making topics > all the other topics

Even when I hit 1–2k monthly visitors, I wasn’t making any money.

It’s frustrating to put in so much work only to see little to no financial return.

Looking back, I wish I had focused on creating content for money-making keywords when I first launched my site.

I spend 2 hours to publish a post — avoid this mistake at all costs

I happened to use a blog post template in Elementor.

This was a huge mistake!

I had to manually add everything — headings (H1, H2, H3, etc.), new paragraphs, tables, and embeds.

It’s a time-consuming process, and it’s seriously slowed me down.

So, before anyone convinces you to switch to Elementor, make sure you weigh the pros and cons carefully!

This is just a quick summary of my latest Medium post.
